What can I use Botox for?
Lines and wrinkles
Everyone knows Botox helps to eradicate facial lines, especially those on the forehead and around the eyes, also known as crow’s feet. It does so by blocking nerve impulses in these areas, causing the muscles to relax and stop the action of frowning or squinting. Many patients appear refreshed after Botox treatments. A touch up is usually required 2 to 3 times a year to prevent the lines from reappearing.
Facial contouring
Square jaws are typically associated to be more attractive in men than in women. Some women may find their square jaws to be too severe or too masculine for their liking. Constantly chewing on gum or teeth grinding could also lead to overdeveloped muscles in this area. Thankfully the appearance of a square jaw can be improved with the use of Botox injections which can help to contour and sculpt the lower face for a slimmer jawline. Results typically last around 3 to 6 months before your next session.
Excessive sweating
Sweat glands work by having a nerve impulse to activate and without such a stimulation, they won’t secrete sweat. For some who are dealing with over-sweating in the hands, armpits and even feet, this can be easily resolved with a few doses of Botox which temporarily blocks the sweat glands in the affected areas.
Patients who have had this treatment report a substantial decrease in sweating in as little as 2 days while others have reported not perspiring at all following the treatment. It is recommended to repeat this treatment every 5 to 7 months.
Complexion enhancement
Did you know that Botox can also be used to improve one’s complexion? By using microinjections of miniscule doses of Botox on the face and neck, you can improve the sheen and suppleness of the skin while reducing fine lines and wrinkles. This works by causing sweat glands and sebaceous glands to shrink and what you’ll get is smooth, clear skin without any loss of movement in major facial muscles.
Patients who have had this treatment report visibly smaller pores and skin that is less oily and more translucent. Skin also looks and feel lifted and firmer after a series of treatments.
Are there any side effects?
Botox is very safe, having been around for many years. It has also established a 10-year safety data even before it was approved for cosmetic use.
