What “Physician-Led” Really Means When Choosing an Aesthetic Clinic

Share the Post:

Aesthetic clinics tend to be compared on the visible things: the treatment menu, the devices, the interior, the price list. These are easy to photograph and easy to advertise. But the factor that most shapes your outcome is harder to see from outside: whether the clinic is genuinely physician-led.

Assessment before recommendation

In a physician-led clinic, the consultation is a medical assessment, not a sales conversation. The doctor examines your skin, takes your history, medications, allergies, prior treatments, and forms a view of what is actually going on before anything is recommended. Sometimes the recommendation is a treatment. Sometimes it is a prescription routine. Sometimes it is to wait.

Protocols and accountability

Physician-led also describes what happens after: documented protocols, appropriate emergency preparedness, structured follow-up, and a doctor who is accountable for your result and reachable if something concerns you. When a complication or an unexpected response occurs, and in medicine they occasionally do, the difference between a doctor-led clinic and a menu-led one becomes very clear.

Questions worth asking

Wherever you choose to go, a few questions reveal a great deal. Who performs my assessment, and are they a doctor? Who actually administers the treatment? What happens if I have an adverse reaction? Will anyone follow up? A good clinic answers these plainly.

Our own answer

At SW1, every treatment is physician-administered or supervised, and every plan begins with a consultation. It is a slower way to run a clinic, and we think it is the only defensible one. The renewed SW1 at Paragon is being designed, quite literally, around the consultation room.

Results may vary between individuals. All treatments at SW1 Clinic are physician-administered or supervised, and subject to clinical suitability assessment at consultation.
