Say bye-bye to cellulite for good

Cellulite – one of those things that tend to appear out of nowhere. In my case at least. Shorts are my weekend go-to outfits and on one of those days, I decided to turn around to have a look at my posterior in the mirror. Lo and behold, reams of cellulite on the back of my thighs were staring right back at me. Call me dramatic but it was certainly a day to remember.

Cellulite while being unsightly, need not be permanent. When skin overlying areas of fat is pulled downward to the deeper tissues by connective tissue bands, this creates an uneven surface, also known as cellulite, which is commonly found on the hips, thighs, abdomen, buttocks and breasts, and affects women more than men due to the way fat, muscles and connective tissue are distributed differently between the genders.

The appearance and amount of cellulite one has can also be due to your genes, body fat percentage, age and the thickness of your skin. You may find a plethora of topical creams promising to treat cellulite. They may help to minimise the appearance over the short term but are unlikely to offer long term permanent solutions. There are however medical options to reduce the appearance of cellulite with more long-lasting results.

Onda Body Magic

One of the reasons for cellulite is fat distribution and if you really want to get rid of cellulite, you should consider getting rid of the fat and improve the interior structure of the skin.

Onda Body Magic is an established method for getting rid of unwanted fat. Thanks to its patented Coolwaves™ technology, this treatment is effective for melting and dissolving stubborn pockets of fat on your body. Each session works by heating up the skin in the treated area to promote fat reduction and skin tightening results as it promotes production of new collagen to give you smoother and more toned skin.

Another popular option to treat dimply skin is by using radiofrequency technology. Cellulite by Thermage uses this energy to restore the elasticity of the fibrous septae and strengthen the overlying skin all at the same time. Volumetric heat used in Thermage also helps to improve circulation in the skin tissues to promote skin repair, overall improving the firmness of the treated skin and mitigating the appearance of cellulite.

Besides using heat, there’s also the option to use ‘cold’ to get rid of fat on our body. This method is known as cryolipolysis, or CoolShape, which uses cold to diminish fat cells. The entire treatment is very comfortable with studies showing a reduction of the treated fat bulge approximately 2 months after treatment. Some patients may experience mild bruising in the treated areas but this is normal and will subside in a few days. This is an ideal treatment option for those who have fat deposits that just won’t go away despite exercise and dieting.
