What Happens During a Nose Filler Procedure

 In FILLERS, NOSE

In a perfect world where we can fulfil all of our heart’s desires, we all have perfect noses. You know, those that add to our facial features and give our faces a dream-like proportion.

Thanks to today’s beauty innovations, we’re one step closer to getting skincare genies in the form of cosmetic treatments. Take the nose filler clinics in Singapore have in store, for example. Also referred to as liquid nose jobs, nose fillers offer a quick, non-invasive way to achieve a perfectly arched nose. Now, you can improve its contour and redefine the shape of your nasal bridge. But one wonders, what actually happens when you get a nose filler? Let’s break it down below.

Nose fillers involve a liquid gel-like substance injected beneath the skin to add volume and improve contour. The most common ingredient seen in nose fillers is hyaluronic acid, which is also naturally in your body. Albeit more known as a moisturising ingredient, hyaluronic acid helps enhance volume by restoring volume and collagen in the skin. It gives you a long-lasting, sustainable, and subtle lift while improving the shape of your nasal bridge and nostrils. But what truly catapulted it to the utmost popularity is its quick and non-invasive process. There’s also minimal downtime involved, unlike the traditional nose job, which takes weeks before it fully heals.

Want to know what to expect during a nose filler procedure? Here they are, conveniently divided into steps to help prepare you along the way:

Preparation

Before you can book your nose filler session, you will first undergo an examination with your doctor. This is also when you must communicate your goals for the procedure and identify your problem areas. Your doctor will also recommend the best type of filler to use to help you achieve your goals.

Moreover, there are certain dos and don’ts that are crucial to guarantee a successful session of nose fillers here in Singapore. Avoid drinking any alcohol two to three days prior to your appointment, as it can induce bruising and bleeding post-treatment. It’s also best to stop taking blood-thinning supplements for at least a week before and after your procedure. And if you’re currently taking medicines with blood-thinning effects, make sure to inform your doctor.

Of course, getting a good night’s sleep before heading to your nose filler appointment is on top of the list. As much as possible, don’t wear any makeup and drink lots of water before your appointment.

Procedure Steps

Before starting the procedure, the doctor will analyse your nose and mark the “problem areas”. This will serve as a guide on which areas will need attention to give you your desired nose. Afterwards, they will apply a topical anaesthetic, like a numbing cream, on the nose area. It’s worth noting that although the procedure is non-surgical, you may still feel a slight discomfort because of the needle. As such, you’ll require topical anaesthesia, which may take 15 to 20 minutes before it kicks in.

Once the anaesthesia takes effect, the doctor will start injecting the nose fillers into specific areas of the nose. They will carefully administer the fillers to alter the shape and improve the appearance of your nose. The fillers usually go above and below the tip of the nose to slim down the nasal bridge. It also adds a lifted look by pushing the depressor nasalis up, a muscle that constantly pulls your nose down. You might also feel a slight pinching sensation during this time. Don’t worry, that’s all normal, and it’s not at all painful!

An entire procedure of nose fillers lasts around 10 to 20 minutes only. Moreover, the results are instantaneous – you can rock your new, improved nose straight out of the office!

Risks and complications

Any procedure has its risks, and the only thing we can do is to prevent it as much as we can. As such, it’s crucial to get nose fillers only from licensed professionals to avoid complications after the procedure. Although rare, some complications connected to nose fillers include:

  • Fever
  • Blurred vision
  • Severe redness or swelling
  • Vascular complications
  • Tissue necrosis (death)

Aftercare and recovery

When it comes to nose fillers Singapore clinics have to offer, there is very minimal downtime required. However, it’s normal to notice some swelling and bruising, but it will disappear within 24 to 48 hours. It’s also best to avoid vigorous physical activity and other treatments for at least three days after getting nose fillers. If you wear glasses, stop wearing them for a while to prevent making indentations to your fillers. This will ensure that your nose fillers retain their shape longer and prevent the fillers from spreading. Lastly, sleep with your head elevated on the first night after your nose filler treatment.

Your doctor may also have specific instructions to help manage your side effects should you notice some. Some patients had to take pain relievers after experiencing a burning, painful sensation during the first 24 hours.

Of course, don’t forget to come in for a follow-up check-up 1 to 2 weeks after your treatment! During this time, the fillers have all dissolved into your body, so your nose is at its full potential. As such, it’s best to let your doctor check if everything is in its proper place to avoid complications.

Nose Filler by SW1

By now you probably realise that not all nose fillers are made the same. Some are not FDA-approved, and can hence fall low on expected results, safety profiles and reliability – even when the price seems affordable. At SW1 Clinic, only FDA-approved fillers are used, thus giving their doctors the ability to shape your nose the way you’d prefer, along with the assurance of safety and low side effects. You may also find the doctors here recommending a mix of fillers to best compliment your nose structure. So, whether it’s improving that nose bridge, or creating the most-defined lines, nose fillers at SW1 can help turn your natural asset into something – better!
