Debunking the greatest myths about Threadlifts
Threadlifts have been gaining popularity in the world of aesthetic procedures as a safe and non-surgical alternative to traditional facelifts. Depending on your area of concern, threadlifts can help to reduce sagging around the cheeks, jawline and neck. This procedure is relatively quick and can be completed in under 2 hours without anaesthesia.
Still, there are some uncertainties when it comes to a threadlift procedure and we’re here to debunk some of the greatest myths about threadlifts.
Myth 1: Threadlifts use threads
While they do look like strings, threads used in threadlift procedures are made of polydioxanone or polylactic acid, a type of polyester derived from corn starch and sugar cane that is re-absorbable and compatible for the human body. Barbed threads with bi-directional cones attached stimulate a skin-lifting effect and smooth, twisted threads promote collagen production. Whichever type of threads you choose to use, they are all biodegradable and will be broken down over time.

Myth 2: Threadlifts are invasive
Threadlifts are non-surgical procedures, without long downtime or any risk of scarring. The threads are inserted under the skin through tiny injections. Your doctor will mark the skin to ensure optimal positioning of the threads. There are no cuts or incisions required when undergoing a threadlift procedure.

Myth 3: Threadlifts are painful
Prior to a threadlift procedure, your doctor will apply a numbing cream on the face to help you feel more comfortable. While you may experience momentary pinches of discomfort, the pain is minimal and is well tolerated by most patients. After a threadlift procedure, it’s common for the treated area to feel tender and swollen or even look slightly bruised. Give it time and these usually resolve in a week or less.

Myth 4: Threadlifts are for old people
One of the reasons why threadlifts are so popular is due to their versatility in treating various concerns. From lifting and tightening sagging skin, threadlifts can help one to achieve a more angular jawline, also known as the much coveted V-shape face for ladies, or enhance and improve the definition of one’s nose.
