Popping blackheads: Yay or Nay?
Let’s face it. Blackheads are the bane of our lives. It seems no matter how often you squeeze them, they just keep coming back. And sometimes even more!
For some, a good pop is the kind of satisfaction only a blackhead aficionado will understand. But squeezing them isn’t always the best approach as it may lead to further irritation and even infection to the surrounding skin.

Besides squeezing, there are much gentler ways to get rid of and prevent blackheads on your face.
Salicylic acid gel
Leave a layer on your blackheads and they literally dissolve blackheads away. The do however need to be used regularly as their effects stop once you stop using them.
Retinoid
This is another great alternative for treating blackheads but this may not be suitable for those with sensitive skin. Retinoids work well in unclogging pores, which means when used with other medication, allows for better efficacy in treating acne.
Enzymatic exfoliator
Not as harsh as facial scrubs, but just as effective, if not more effective in working on those blackheads. It exfoliates gently and removes dead skin cells, and is great even for those with sensitive skin.

Facials
Facials are a treat for your face. A good facial cleanses, exfoliates and nourishes your skin, a great way to keep your skin in tip-top condition. A popular facial which we highly recommend is the Deep, Deep Clean facial available at SW1 Spa, which combines microdermabrasion with a fruit acid wash, 5-10 minutes of ultrasonic deep pore purging, and a targeted facial wrap to keep breakouts at bay.
