If you have had enough of unsightly stubbles and irksome ingrowns, or have been frustrated at other treatments that do not deliver, a permanent laser hair removal is the answer you are looking for. We use a dual wavelength laser platform that combines the fastest and most powerful 755 nm Alexandrite laser with 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser for high performance treatment capabilities in terms of speed, efficacy and outstanding performance. It is above all safe with high patient satisfaction rate. A key benefit of our permanent laser hair removal is that it allows individuals of both fair and darker skin and hair profiles to be safely and effectively treated, putting an end to the bothersome (and painful) routine of shaving and waxing.
How does Laser Hair Removal work?
Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure. The laser focuses light into the hair follicles. The pigment in hair follicles absorb the laser energy, which in turn destroys the hair follicle.
How does Laser Hair Removal treatments work?
Laser energy is delivered through a small handpiece operated by our doctor. The laser delivers an intense beam of light, which is absorbed by the skin and converted to heat. The heat is then absorbed by the hair cells being targeted, while the surrounding tissue remains unaffected. Your skin may be slightly pink immediately following the procedure. This typically lasts from a few minutes to several hours after the procedure but will eventually subside.
Are laser hair removal treatments painful?
A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and left on for 10 to 15 minutes to maximize comfort. Our Laser Hair Removal treatments use a patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™), which prepares the skin for treatment by spraying the upper layer with a cooling burst of cryogen in adjustable durations—milliseconds before the laser pulse. DCD helps ensure that the treatments are as comfortable as they are effective.
How should I prepare for the treatment?
If possible, hairs should be 1-2mm long when you arrive for your treatment, so that it is possible to mark out the treatment area. Our therapists may trim long hairs just before treatment to ensure all of the laser energy is transmitted to the hair follicle.
Avoid sun exposure at least two weeks before treatment. Do not bleach, pluck or wax 4 to 6 weeks before and after treatment.
How many treatments do I need?
As only hair in the active growing phase can be treated, the number of treatments will depend on the percentage of hair that is within this phase at the time of the laser treatment. This varies between individuals and also between different areas of the body. Treatment can be repeated every 4-6 weeks or at the advice of your doctor. Our Permanent Hair Removal is incorporated into our Removal and Revival Program which also features Quattro Toning and Skin Smoothening Peel Mask for glowing skin as smooth as silk.
Frequently asked questions
Are SW1 Clinic’s laser Hair Removal treatments safe, and are there any side effects?
Our laser and light-based treatments have been safely used for many years for a variety of medical and cosmetic procedures.
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal works by directing concentrated laser energy at the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle. The energy is absorbed by the follicle, generating heat that damages it and inhibits future hair growth. Because laser targets the follicle during its active growth phase, multiple sessions are needed to treat all hairs effectively.
How many laser hair removal sessions do I need?
Most patients require 6 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to achieve significant permanent hair reduction. Hair grows in cycles and only follicles in the active growth phase respond to laser treatment, which is why multiple sessions are essential. Annual maintenance sessions may be required for long-term results.
Is laser hair removal safe for all skin types?
At SW1 Clinic, we use medical-grade laser technology that can be safely adjusted for different skin tones and hair types. During your consultation, your doctor will assess your skin and hair type and select the most appropriate laser settings. We recommend a patch test before commencing a full course of treatment.
Is laser hair removal painful?
Most patients describe laser hair removal as feeling like a rubber band snap or a mild stinging sensation. Modern laser devices incorporate cooling systems that significantly reduce discomfort. Topical numbing cream can also be applied to sensitive areas before treatment.
What body areas can be treated with laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal can be performed on most body areas including the face (upper lip, chin, sideburns), underarms, arms, legs, bikini line, and back. Your SW1 doctor will advise on suitability for specific areas during your consultation.
Is there downtime after laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal requires no downtime. Mild redness or sensitivity in the treated area is normal and typically resolves within a few hours. You should avoid sun exposure and apply SPF to treated areas for at least two weeks after each session.
